After its global debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show late last year, the fully electric Audi e-tron Gran Turismo represents the future of Audi's premier electric performance vehicles. This four-door luxury GT coupe is an innovative concept following in the footsteps of the Audi e-tron SUV and the Audi e-tron Sportback. Engineered with exciting proportions and a low center of gravity, the e-tron Gran Turismo concept can produce 590 horsepower and transfers torque to the wheels via Audi's quattro® all-wheel drive, ensuring its performance is fit for a high-end sports car.
Style & Design
Reflecting the proportions of the classic Audi Gran Turismo, the e-tron GT concept is constructed using lightweight materials including carbon, aluminum and even a few elements made with high-strength steel. The e-tron GT features a gently sloping roofline that extends well into the rear, mirroring the hallmark Sportback body style. Highlighted by a pair of matrix LED headlights with laser high beams and a continuous light strip that runs across the entire width of the rear, the e-tron GT's design is unmistakable and sure to stand out on the streets of Houston when its volume-production counterpart arrives in late 2020.
Performance & Technology
Boasting two electric motors fitted to the front and rear axles, the e-tron GT will feature an impressive power output and optimal level of traction, promoting streamlined performance and progressive efficiency on the Southwest Freeway. Thanks to its intricate cooling strategy, the Audi e-tron GT concept will provide the driver with full potential to access both motors and the battery, a notable feature that not all competing electric car manufacturers will be able to match.
The 800-volt battery can be charged using the cable connected to the vehicle or by means of Audi's Wireless Charging. It will take only about 20 minutes to recharge the e-tron GT's battery to 80 percent -- which equates to about 200 miles of range on the highway.
Making its Hollywood Feature Film Debut
The Audi e-tron GT will make its big screen debut in the summer of 2019 in Marvel Studios' new Avengers 4 movie. It's not entirely clear how it will be portrayed or who it will be driven by, but one can only surmise that Audi's latest and greatest luxury flagship vehicle will only further advance the Avengers' technological prowess and futuristic capabilities. Stay tuned!
