Track-tested Audi performance will now fly under the banner of “Audi Sport,” which takes the place of the quattro® GmbH name, formerly used to describe Audi motorsports. The Audi Sport models offer the highest-caliber performance, balancing driving dynamics and innovation to create the ultimate track-worthy rides. This announcement came along with three newly unveiled Audi Sport models at the 2017 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), making it quite a big announcement from the four-ring automaker!

Audi also announced that, over the next two years, eight new Audi models will join the “Audi Sport” family in the U.S. market. However, we don’t have to wait 24 months for three such models: the Audi R8 LMS GT4 made its global debut, which the all-new 2018 TT RS and the 2018 RS 3 both debuted to American audiences at the NYIAS.

“Audi is a brand built on progress, and for us, racing has been the lab where so much of that progress has been made,” said Scott Keogh, Audi of America president. “With the launch of Audi Sport in the U.S., we are excited to offer our customers even more products that benefit from the same developments and technologies first used in motorsport.” —from an April 12, 2017 Audi Press Release

Audi is always on the cutting edge of performance and innovation, but for those drivers looking for the most uncompromising performance, the best in track-worthy equipment and track-tested vehicles, then the Audi Sport brand is where you’ll feel most at home. Of course, the entire Audi lineup is worth exploring, but if you’re planning to go head-to-head against other performance vehicles on a closed circuit, ask us about Audi Sport models and we’ll get you pointed in the right direction!
